You Help Save Lives
We at St. Hubert’s love our foster parents. When you welcome a foster animal into your home you can feel good knowing that you’ve made a positive difference in an animal’s life. You also open a cage or kennel space for us to save another animal. Our robust and generous network of foster homes makes it possible for us to care for more animals with more complicated needs—from orphaned kittens who need round-the-clock feedings to cats and dogs for whom the shelter environment is too stressful and does not allow them to exhibit their true personalities. We couldn't do it without you. Thank you for helping us save hundreds of our community's most vulnerable animals every year.
This site will help you navigate our foster process. From this site you are able to access information about: foster supplies, tips for helping your foster settle into your home, information about our medical system, how to handle emergencies, and frequently asked questions.
We’ve also added the St. Hubert’s foster program contract our fosters sign.
Please ask yourself the following questions before you take on a foster animal:
Are you willing to:
Follow the policies and procedures of the St. Hubert’s foster department as outlined in the foster contract
Treat your foster with the same love and care you would give your own animal
Provide transportation for yourself and your foster animal to and from our facilities for medical appointments or other needs
Have reliable internet and email access to communicate with us regularly about your foster
Be an adoption ambassador and advocate for your foster animal, willing to communicate with potential adopters in a timely manner
Be open and honest about any medical or behavioral concerns that may arise while the foster animal is in your care so that we can support you with our team of medical and animal behavior professionals
Exclusively use our foster team when seeking advice on how to address any questions or concerns
Only use St. Hubert’s medical facilities to meet the medical needs of your foster animal unless otherwise directed by a staff member
