KIDS’ CAMPS

 Critter Camps

Critter Camps are designed to educate and inspire youth to practice a lifestyle of compassion, respect, and empathy through the humane treatment of animals. We emphasize responsible pet care and foster children’s understanding of all species. Camp is not a volunteering opportunity for children, rather an educational experience designed to encourage animal advocacy.

Guest speakers, both live and virtual, will bring a variety of topics and animals for the campers to meet. Additional activities may include a nature walk around the property, animal-themed games and educational activities, lunch outside, and making animal enrichment crafts.

Camps are held at St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center’s Madison campus located at 575 Woodland Avenue, 9:00am-1:00pm daily. *Please note that peanut butter is used in our shelter.

No child will be denied access to participate because of the inability to pay. For information on potential scholarship opportunities, contact education@sthuberts.org

Critter Camp FAQ

  • Groups are shuffled regularly to encourage interaction with new kids throughout the week. Campers who attend with friends will have plenty of opportunities to be together, but we cannot guarantee they will participate in every activity together.

  • For summer camp, please register your child for the grade they will be entering in the fall. Camp activities are tailored to grade levels. Making exceptions to our grade level groupings poses challenges for campers and staff. To maintain the best camp experience for everyone, we do not make exceptions to the camp grade levels.

  • For the safety and respect of animal participants, animal meet and greet time is limited and closely monitored. Participants will have daily opportunities for contact with animal guests but shouldn't expect to spend significant time with animals.

  • A full refund minus a $25 processing fee will be issued provided the cancellation is given in writing 7 days prior to the start of the camp session. No refunds will be given for late arrivals, early departures or absences.

  • To run our camps efficiently, we repeat activities for each grade level from week to week. In addition, many of our camps fill up, and we'd like to reach as many children as possible. For these reasons, we limit each child to attending once each summer.
