KIDS & K-9's-A TRAINING WEEK
  • For the very first time, St. Hubert’s Dog Training School is offering an intensive, week-long dog training camp, especially for kids. You’ll teach your very own dog amazing new tricks and even introduce him to some awesome dog sports! You and your dog will have so much fun together that you’ll be BFFs by the end of the week. If you’re between 8-12 years old, love dogs, and have your very own to teach, you just might have what it takes to be a trainer in the making! Training week - July 12th - 16th 2010 from 1:45pm-4:00pm. Activities include: • Handling Skills • Agility • Tricks • Games. Prerequisite: dog must have graduated from a Basic or Petite Pals class. Space is limited to 10. It is not necessary for parents to stay, but if they wish, they are welcome to observe. Cost: $250 DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED.

Private Training and Behavioral Counseling
  • If the classroom setting is not right for you, we offer private one-on-one training. We have a qualified staff to help you train your dog at home or deal with specific behavior problems such as poor household manners, housesoiling, destruction, and much more. Our team has also developed very successful protocols for behavior modification programs to help owners deal with their dog's problems relating to separation anxiety, aggression or fearful behaviors. The cost ranges from $100 at St. Hubert's for private training and $175 for an initial behavioral consultation. Subsequent behavioral sessions are $125 per hour. In-home behavioral consultations also available. Please call for rates.
   


General Pet Training
Kindergarten Puppy
  • This 8-week course is limited to 8-10 puppies that are between the ages of 8-18 weeks when the course begins. This is the best possible way to get your puppy started. We'll give you tips on socialization, household manners, housetraining, puppy mouthing as well as teach basic behaviors, such as sit, down, come, loose leash walking, and much more. Cost is $225.
   

Kindergarten Puppy (BRIDGEWATER AREA)
  • These classes will be held at Camp Bow Wow Bridgewater. This 8-week course is limited to 8-10 puppies that are between the ages of 8-18 weeks when the course begins. This is the best possible way to get your puppy started. We'll give you tips on socialization, household manners, housetraining, puppy mouthing as well as teach basic behaviors, such as sit, down, come, loose leash walking, and much more. Age appropriate vaccinations required: Rabies, Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo. Please note: Camp Bow-wow requires all dogs have the Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccine. Petite Puppies
  • This 8-week course is limited to 8-10 puppies that are between the ages of 10-24 weeks when the course begins. The course is limited to toy and small breeds only. This is the best possible way to get your puppy started. We'll give you tips on socialization, household manners, housetraining, puppy mouthing as well as teach basic behaviors, such as sit, down, come, loose leash walking, and much more. Cost is $225. Basic Training
  • This 8-week course is limited to 8-10 dogs that are 5 months or older when the course begins. We will help you establish a healthy, long-lasting relationship using the most innovative reward-based training techniques. Behaviors taught are sit, down, stay, come, heel, wait, leave it, sit for petting, and more. Cost is $225.
   

Basic Training (BRIDGEWATER AREA)
  • These classes will be held at Camp Bow Wow Bridgewater. This 8-week course is limited to 8-10 dogs that are 5 months or older when the course begins. Behaviors taught are sit, down, stay, come with distractions, wait, leave it, walk nicely on leash, sit for petting, go to place and more. Cost is $225.
   

Basic For Puppy Grads (BRIDGEWATER AREA)
  • These classes will be held at Camp Bow Wow Bridgewater. This 8-week course is limited to 8-10 dogs that have graduated from our Kindergarten Puppy or Petite Puppies class.   • This 8-week basic training course is limited to 8 to 10 dogs and is specifically designed for dogs 30 lbs. or less. You will train your dog in an environment designed to make learning more enjoyable and comfortable for a small dog. Behaviors taught are sit, down, stay, come, heel, wait, leave it, back up, sit for petting and more. Cost is $225. Dates to be announced.
   

Around Town
  • This 4-week mini-course is for dogs that have graduated from a Basic or Petite Pals course. Each week, your instructor will take you on a field trip around town to help you and your dog become more proficient with the exercises that you learned in the basic course, as well as get you ready for Off Leash Wonders. The course will be customized to the needs of each student to help you and your dog achieve success. Cost is $115. Continuing education discount does not apply to this course.
   

Around Town (BRIDGEWATER AREA)
  • Around Town This 4-week mini-course is for dogs that have graduated from a Basic or Petite Pals course. Each week, your instructor will take you on a field trip around town to help you and your dog become more proficient with the exercises that you learned in the basic course, as well as get you ready for Off Leash Wonders. The Great Outdoors
  • This 6-week course is limited to 6 dogs and open to any dog that has completed the Off Leash Wonders course. You will expand upon what you learned in the other courses by working on emergency cues and transferring from indoor training to outdoor reliability, in a safe, contained area at our shelter on Woodland Avenue. Cost is $170. dates to be announced.
   


Specialty Pet Training
Feisty Fido's Agility
  • 6 weeks - 45 Minutes Agility for Feisty Fidos
   

Feisty Fidos - Level 1
  • This 8-week course is limited to 6 dogs. If your dog has a bone to pick with other dogs (as a result of fear or otherwise), the basic pet class is not a conducive environment for him to learn in. This is a specialty course run by 2 instructors plus assistants. You will learn how to better read your dog's challenging postures, use proper handling skills, as well as techniques using desensitization and counter-conditioning. All dogs will be desensitized to wearing a muzzle due to the nature of the course. Cost is $300. (Special Equipment included)
   

Feisty Fidos On-Leash (Level 2)
  • This 6-week session will be held outdoors at our shelter on 575 Woodland Avenue. STUDENTS MUST HAVE COMPLETED FEISTY FIDOS LEVEL 1. Cost is $185.
   

Feisty Fidos Off-Leash (Level 3)
  • This 6-week off-leash session will be held outdoors at our shelter on 575 Woodland Avenue. STUDENTS MUST HAVE GRADUATED THE ON-LEASH COURSE. Cost is $185.
   

Playful Pups
  • This 4-week play group lets your puppy burn off that extra energy by running and playing with other puppies! Supplement your puppy’s socialization during the cold winter months. These supervised play sessions are for puppies that are currently enrolled in a Puppy Kindergarten or Petite Puppies class and are 6 months and younger. Cost is $60.00 DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED.
   

Playful Pups (BRIDGEWATER AREA)
  • This 4-week play group lets your puppy burn off that extra energy by running and playing with other puppies! Supplement your puppy’s socialization during the cold winter months. These supervised play sessions are for puppies that are currently enrolled in a Puppy Kindergarten or Petite Puppies class and are 6 months and younger. Cost is $60.00. DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED.
   

Rompin’ Rovers (dogs over 30 lbs.)
  • This play session meets on Saturdays at 11:45am is open to any dog six months or older who has GRADUATED from a St Hubert’s Basic training course. If you would like to give your dog a chance to burn off that extra energy by running and playing with other well-socialized dogs, this is for you. The play sessions are held outdoors at our shelter located at 575 Woodland Avenue in a contained area and supervised by an instructor. All dogs must be able lie down in the presence of other dogs and be under control at all times. You will have a chance to practice what you taught your dog in Basic throughout the play sessions. The reward for good behavior is PLAY! Please note: To insure the safety of everyone, this class is NOT appropriate for any dog that has, at any time, displayed fear or aggression toward other dogs or people. If you have any question about the appropriateness of this class for your dog, please call for an evaluation. If we feel your dog is not a candidate for Romping Rovers, we offer private training to prepare your dog for this type of environment. Please call (973) 377-0116 for rates and to register.
   

Tiny Tots (dogs under 30 lbs.)
  • This 6-week play session is open to any dog six months or older who is currently enrolled in, or has graduated from a St. Hubert’s Basic or Petite Pals training course. If you would like to give your dog a chance to burn off that extra energy by running and playing with other well-socialized dogs, this course is for you. The play sessions are held indoors at the Dog Training School on 22 Prospect St in a contained area and supervised by an instructor. Please note: To insure the safety of everyone, please remember that this class is NOT appropriate for any dog who has, at any time, displayed fear or aggression toward other dogs or people. Cost is $85.00.
   


Sports Training
AGILITY UPDATE
  • September agility classes now available for registration. Sunday - Puppy, Beginner, Advanced Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and ATC. Also, our new Learning Weave Poles 2x2 clinic (2 hour session).
   

Agility - Puppy
  • This 8-week course is geared to the dog/handler team whose long-term goal is to compete in agility or just have fun. This is a fun foundation course designed to introduce puppies and their parents to the basic concepts needed in the sport. Learning how to play, asking for attention, teaching targets, and discovering basic coordination, are among the topics covered. This course is for dogs less than one year of age. Cost is $160.
   

Agility - Beginner
  • This 8-week course is geared to the dog/handler team whose long-term goal is to compete or learn a new sport. This course covers equipment, targeting concepts, and basic handling skills. This is a foundation course and will require homework to ensure the dog’s long term success. Prerequisite-dog and handler must be firm in all Basic commands and have graduated from an Advanced training course. Age reqirement is that the dog be 12 months or older. Cost is $160.
   

Agility - Advanced Beginner
  • This 8-week class is geared to the dog/handler team that has successfully completed the Agility Beginner Course. The focus will be on building confidence while moving most equipment up to regulation height. Basic handling skills and small sequences will be presented. Cost is $160.
   

Agility - Intermediate
  • This 8-week class is geared to the dog/handler team continuing on from the Advanced Beginner Agility level. This course covers sequencing, polishing obstacle performance, building the dog’s confidence and enthusiasm, and introducing the handler to basic course analysis skills. Cost is $160.
   

Agility - Advanced
  • This 8-week class is geared to the dog/handler team that is continuing on from the Intermediate level. More difficult and longer sequences will be presented. Special attention will be paid to maintaining fast and accurate obstacle performance while using more advanced handling techniques. Handler will further develop course analysis, handling, and team communication skills. Cost is $160.
   

Agility - Training for Competition Prep
  • This 8-week course is geared to the dog/handler team that has successfully completed the Advanced course, but has not yet started competing. Emphasis will be on obstacle performance and handling skills, closing weave poles and proofing contact performance. Cost is $160.Dates to be announced.
   

Agility - Advanced: Training for Competition (ATC)
  • This 8-week class is geared to the dog/handler team that has successfully completed the Advanced course, but has not yet met the requirements for the Competition class. More difficult sequences and courses will challenge the dog/handler team. Emphasis will be on course analysis and handling skills. Pre-requisite is ATC Prep., or its equivalent with permission of the instructor. Cost is $160.
   

Agility - Competition
  • This 8-week course is geared to the dog/handler team currently competing at Novice, Open, or Levels 1-3. Challenging sequences and courses will be presented. Handler will polish course analysis skills and begin applying advanced handling techniques. Cost is $160. Dates to be announced.
   

Agility Run-Thrus
  • This is a one evening practice session. Registration is limited so that participants will have the maximum number of runs during the hour practice session. Handlers will take turns during the session. An entire course will be available, or you may practice select portions, based on your training needs Cost is $20. Dates to be announced.
   

Agility Handling Skills
  • This 8-week course is geared towards those who wish to improve overall handling skills. Course will cover topics such as timing of crosses, speed and accuracy in the weave poles, contact performance, distance handling, setting an efficient line, among other topics. Participants should be working at the Advanced level or higher. Cost is $160.
   

Agility Course Strategy
  • This 8-week class will help you understand how to analyze a course and use this knowledge to develop handling strategies that will allow you and your dog to be successful when running a course, based on your team’s skills. Each week will include both discussion and running of that evening’s course(s). Geared towards the Novice/Open handler. Cost is $160. Dates to be announced.
   

Agility Distance Skills
  • This 8-week course will help you learn how to successfully direct your dog from a distance - how to get your dog to work ahead as well as laterally away from you. This course will present step-by-step concepts and show you how to build and increase handling distance. Cost is $160. Dates to be announced.
   

Agility - Game Strategy
  • This 8-week course will cover the special skills classes offered by AKC, CPE, NADAC & USDAA. Each week different game(s) will be covered, both learning the rules and then practicing the required skills. Cost is $160. Dates to be announced.
   

Agility - Skills, Drills & Proofing
  • This 8-week course will emphasize important skills such as proofing contacts with distractions, start line stays, weave pole entries and accuracy, and handling short sequences. Cost is $160. Dates to be announced.
   

Agility Foundation Skills
  • This 8-week class will help you and your dog learn the basic handling skills so important in the sport. Dogs should have a reliable recall, be able to work around distractions, and have a solid stay/wait. Open to graduates of Beginner agility class or above. Cost is $160.
   

Agility Tea-Cup
  • This 8-week course is limited to dogs 30 lbs. or less, and will cover all the skills offered in our regular Beginner Agility class which is open to all dogs, regardless of size. Cost is $160. Dates to be announced.
   

Agility - Learning Weave Poles 2x2
  • This 2 hour workshop is geared for those who wish to learn weave poles using the 2x2 method. Cost is $40. This workshop will be held indoors at the Dog Training School.
   

Conformation Private Sessions
  • If you feel you need extra help or would like to have one-on-one training to help resolve problems that cannot be dealt with in the classroom setting, we have a qualified staff to help. The cost of a one hour private session is $100.00.
   

Conformation Show Handling (All Levels)
  • This 8-week course is designed for handlers who have no or some experience in the show ring. You may attend with a novice dog or an experienced dog. The course focuses on handling techniques and problem solving. Advanced registration is required to ensure a spot in the class. Drop-ins are not permitted. ONLY ONE DOG PER HANDLER PER CLASS. Cost is $85.

Tracking
  • This 6 week, 8 hour course will introduce you to the exciting outdoor sport of tracking. In tracking, your dog will follow a scent left by a person walking through an area and find an article dropped by that person. Tracking is unique in dog sports in that the dog knows what to do and the handler must learn to read his/her dog and follow him/her. The first class will consist of a 2 hour seminar/orientation and 1 hour of work. The remaining 5 weeks are 1 hour long. Classes may meet at different locations - to be determined. Locations will be posted on the confirmation. Prerequisite: dogs must have graduated from a Basic class. Limited to 10 working teams. Cost is $165.
   

Tracking-Intermediate
  • This 6 week course will continue the training from the tracking class. Longer legs and turns will be introduced. Classes will meet at different locations. See confirmation for specific locations and dates. Limited to 10-working teams. Cost is $165.
   

K-9 NOSEWORK INTRODUCTION
  • This 6 week course will introduce you to the new, exciting, detection-style sport is designed to develop dogs’ natural scenting abilities by using their curiosity, desire to hunt, and their love of toys, food, and exercise. It’s a great way for any dog to have fun, build confidence, and burn lots of mental and physical energy. Dogs are sniffing it up! Cost is $170. Dates to be announced.
   

K9 - NOSEWORK - INTERMEDIATE
  • This 6 week course is geared to those students that have succesfully completed the Introduction course. This is the next level in this new, exciting, detection-style sport. It is designed to further develop your dogs’ natural scenting abilities by using their curiosity, desire to hunt, and their love of toys, food, and exercise. More difficult searches both inside and outside will be worked in this class. Cost is $170.
   

PLEASE NOTE: If your dog has ever bitten anyone (you, family, friend or stranger) seriously enough to break skin, or if your dog has ever been involved in a dog fight, please call the school before registering. We offer private counseling to help you deal with this behavior. Please call (973) 377-0116 for further information.

Handlers must be 14 years of age or older and accompanied by an adult. All family members are encouraged and welcome to observe.
